I know Hamworthy very well (as SWMBO lives just round the corner). That website says the truck was trying to get to Poole harbour???? if that was the case then he had no reason to turn round. He must of been trying to get to the site for the new lift bridge in which case he hadn't a chance in hell as he would of had to drive over the old lift bridge. Although why he didnt just continue down Blanford road to Poole docks and turn around in there I dont know. Anybody know who it was or who was escorting it? Its hard enough moving abloads around in Dorset with the dorset traffic taliban, now this has just made it even worse. I hope they get a severe bollocking.

It sort of sounded to me from one of the quotes “.....[Police] Officers said it had been given a route to take that turned out to be impossible to make.” that maybe it was on a route the Police had agreed to...?

I think the only way the police would of put down the route wrong was if they thought the load was going to the Docks. Or Dillon is on holiday and they have a temp in the office. Either way someone needs a severe talking to, if it was down to the police who messed up, no dout they will pass the blame onto the haulier like they did a few years ago. :?
Maybe the address of 'Poole harbour bridge' got mis-read to 'Poole harbour' and the police thought 'Poole harbour' meant 'Poole docks' and sent the standard permit back.
All will become clear soon as I have my spys on the case. :D

Even a satnav would of routed them the other way. The most direct way to the docks is down the A350 Holes Bay Rd and this is the HGV route in & out of poole docks over the lift bridge. Blandford Rd has a signed 7.5t weight limit except for deliverys and abnormal loads so even if you looked at a map it oviously wouldnt be the way to West Quay Rd (where the new bridge is being built) from the A31.

Who's ever fault it was Im gonna blame the police..... just because we dont get on. :D
